Fidelity Bank supports Ashanti GJA press centre project with GH¢50,000
The Ashanti Regional branch of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) has received a cheque for GH¢50,000 from Fidelity Bank to support the construction of a press center aimed at improving the working conditions of journalists in the region.
The presentation was made on Thursday, February 5, 2026, in Kumasi, during a one-day workshop for journalists in the financial sector, organized by Fidelity Bank.
The donation followed a formal request submitted by the Ashanti Regional GJA executives to the bank, seeking assistance to establish an ultramodern press facility.
The proposed center is expected to enhance news gathering, reporting, and professional collaboration among media practitioners.
The programme brought together media professionals to discuss developments within the financial industry and strengthen the relationship between the media and the banking sector.
Managing Director of Fidelity Bank, Julian Opuni, who made the presentation, underscored the crucial role journalists play in national development.
She noted that supporting the media through improved infrastructure would enhance the quality and impact of journalism across the country.
“We received a request from GJA to help them construct a press center, and as part of the bank’s social corporate responsibilities, we deem it appropriate to honour their request,” she said.
Julian Opuni added that the bank remains committed to initiatives that strengthen democratic institutions and promote transparency.
Ashanti Regional Chairman of the GJA, Kofi Adu Domfe, who received the cheque on behalf of the association, expressed gratitude to Fidelity Bank for the timely support.
He said the financial assistance would significantly advance efforts to establish a modern facility that meets the needs of journalists in the region.
Mr Adu Domfe assured stakeholders that the funds would be used judiciously to achieve the project’s objectives.
He also called on other corporate bodies and partners to support the initiative, stating that “the money will go a long way to realize the dreams of journalists who have long called for such an edifice to support their work.”
