A deadly tricycle accident, known locally as a “Aboboyaa,” claimed the life of a pregnant 38-year-old woman in Assin South in the Central Region.
The incident happened on July 26, 2022, a Tuesday
According to reports, she needed to be transported to the hospital for birth but since the road system was so bad, there was no automobile available; instead, a tricycle was used.
The tricycle with the license plate N-21-AC 1310 went from a bridge made of coconut branches midway through their trip, killing her.
Residents are outraged by the occurrence and claim it might have been avoided if only their repeated calls to John Ntim Fordjour, their Member of Parliament, and Felicia Amissah, the District Chief Executive, had been answered.
They have lamented why, despite being a region’s food basket, they haven’t been granted development projects like roads and schools.
Producing cocoa, plantains, cocoyams, and other food crops as well as processing gari are the main sources of employment in Fawomanye, Besease Manager, and Quansakrom, where the majority of the population lives.
