Ewe Traditional Council Meets Ashanti Regional Minister Ahead of AshantiFest 2025: A Historic Step Toward Cultural Integration

In a landmark engagement that underscores Ghana’s commitment to cultural inclusivity and development, the Ashanti Regional Minister, Hon. Dr. Frank Amoakohene, welcomed the Ewe Traditional Council of the Ashanti Region, led by Togbe Fugah, for a high-level dialogue on community welfare, integration, and their role in the region’s growth.

The meeting, held at the Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council, offered a platform for open discussions on the lived experiences of the Ewe (Anlo) people in the Ashanti Region, as well as their significant social and economic contributions over the decades. It also served as a prelude to their anticipated participation in AshantiFest 2025, which promises to be one of the most inclusive cultural events in Ghana’s recent history.

Dr. Amoakohene praised the Ewe community for their peaceful coexistence and active contribution to the development of the region. He noted that their participation in the upcoming AshantiFest is both symbolic and historic.

“The Ewe people have been integral to the progress of the Ashanti Region. Their industrious spirit, cultural richness, and dedication to community building are values we all share. AshantiFest 2025 will be a platform for us to celebrate that unity,” he stated.

Togbe Fugah, speaking on behalf of the Ewe Traditional Council, expressed deep appreciation for the continued cooperation between the Ashanti Regional administration and the Ewe community. He affirmed their readiness to contribute actively to the festival and future initiatives aimed at regional development.

“Our roots in the Ashanti Region are deep, and our hearts are committed to its future. We look forward to showcasing our traditions during AshantiFest and strengthening the bonds that unite us as Ghanaians,” said Togbe Fugah.

As plans for AshantiFest 2025 move forward, the inclusion of the Ewe community is expected to add a dynamic layer to the celebration. Their vibrant cultural displays, including drumming, dance, storytelling, textile artistry, and culinary heritage, will reflect the rich mosaic of cultures that define the Ashanti Region.

AshantiFest 2025 will run under the theme: “One Region, Many Cultures – Building Together Through Diversity.” The festival is set to attract thousands of participants from across the nation and beyond, reaffirming Kumasi’s place as a hub of cultural unity and innovation.

The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment from both leaders to work hand-in-hand in promoting development, peace, and cultural pride.
