Ejurahene Thanks Asantehene for Peaceful Selection of New Mamponghene
The Adontenhene and a Kingmaker for the Asante Mampong Traditional Council, Barimah Osei Hwedie II, has praised the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei II, for overseeing a peaceful selection of a new paramount chief for the Asante Mampong Traditional Council.

Speaking to OTEC News, the chief of Ejura Divisional Council said the Asantehene’s wisdom, guidance, and approval of the nominee made the process smooth.
“I will urge Asanteman to thank the Asantehene for this peaceful process,” Barimah Osei Hwedie II said, acknowledging the role of the Asantehene in the selection.
He commended the Asante Mamponghemaa, Nana Agyakomaa Diffie, and other kingmakers for their efforts.
Barimah Osei Hwedie II said this in an interview with OTEC News Reporter Kwame Agyenim Boateng on Monday January 19, 2026 when the Mampong Traditional Council lead the new chief to swear an oat to the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei II at the Manhyia Palace.
The new paramount chief, Leslie Osei Bonsu, now Daasebre Osei Bonsu III, has sworn an oath of allegiance his people and now at the place to do same to the Asantehene at Manhyia Palace.
The 51-year-old engineer, a senior software architect and geospatial strategist, will succeed the late Mamponghene, Daasebre Osei Bonsu II.
Daasebre Osei Bonsu III, with over two decades of experience in software initiatives, is currently the Product and Service Group Manager at GAF AG in Germany.
He was educated at Prempeh College and KNUST, with a master’s degree in Geo-information science and Earth observation from the Netherlands.
