Ejurahene Praises Otumfuo Osei Tutu II for Smooth Enstoolment Process of New Mamponghene

The Adontenhene and a kingmaker of the Asante Mampong Traditional Council, Barimah Osei Hwedie II, has commended the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, for his wise leadership and guidance in the peaceful selection and enstoolment of a new Mamponghene.

Speaking in an interview with OTEC News, the Ejurahene described the process as smooth, transparent, and devoid of tension, attributing the success largely to the wisdom and final approval of the Asantehene. According to him, Otumfuo’s firm but fatherly leadership ensured unity among all stakeholders involved in the selection process.

“I will urge Asanteman to thank the Asantehene for this peaceful process,” Barimah Osei Hwedie II stated, noting that the calm atmosphere surrounding the selection reflected Otumfuo Osei Tutu II’s commitment to preserving peace and stability within the Asante Kingdom.

He also lauded the Asante Mamponghemaa, Nana Agyakomaa Diffie, and the other kingmakers of the Traditional Council for their dedication and sense of responsibility throughout the process, stressing that their cooperation made it possible for consensus to be reached without dispute.

Barimah Osei Hwedie II made these remarks on Monday, January 19, 2026, when the Asante Mampong Traditional Council formally presented the new paramount chief at the Manhyia Palace to swear the customary oath of allegiance to the Asantehene. The solemn ceremony marked the final stage of the enstoolment process.

The new Mamponghene, Daasebre Osei Bonsu III, known in private life as Leslie Osei Bonsu, had earlier sworn the oath of allegiance to his people before proceeding to Manhyia to reaffirm his loyalty to the Golden Stool and the Asantehene.

Daasebre Osei Bonsu III, aged 51, succeeds the late Daasebre Osei Bonsu II. He is an accomplished engineer, senior software architect, and geospatial strategist with over two decades of professional experience in software and technology-driven initiatives.

Currently serving as Product and Service Group Manager at GAF AG in Germany, the new Mamponghene brings a wealth of international exposure and professional expertise to the revered stool. He received his secondary education at Prempeh College and furthered his studies at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), before obtaining a master’s degree in Geo-information Science and Earth Observation from the Netherlands.

Traditional leaders and observers at the Manhyia Palace expressed optimism that Daasebre Osei Bonsu III’s blend of tradition, modern education, and global experience will contribute significantly to the development of Asante Mampong and the wider Asante Kingdom.
