Ejisu Essienimpong Residents cry over lack of basic social amenities

Residents of Essienimpong, a community in the Ejisu Municipality of the Ashanti Region, have appealed to the government and their chief Nana Kwaku Appiah Onwawani to provide them with basic social amenities.
According to them,
Essienimpong community lacking developmental projects as they keep on complaining.

The residents, in an interview with the media , complained about the lack of basic facilities such as a permanent potable water, toilet facility, road, market, community center, chief palace and security among others.

They have expressed concern about the total neglect of the provision of social amenities for the people in the area.

They accused the government and chief for not helping them in their community.

Some of residents, who spoke to media called for an immediate intervention from the government, philanthropists and other stakeholders to come to their aid.

The residents also up in arms with their chief,Nana Kwaku Appiah Onwawani for taking their lands measuring more or less than 80 acres from them.

In petition dated 9th January 2024 and addressed to Tafohene who is the head of Benkuhene Division of Kumasi, the petitioners Numbering mine said,the parcel of land lie on the land originally owned and controlled by the Queen mother of ESsienimpong,Nana Ama Agyampomaa ii.

It explained that,some of the family members has cultivated some food crops like Cassava,plantain,Cocoyam,Maize and other crops like palm trees,,cocoa among others on their land for their sustainable.

However,it said, recently the owners of the said land have observed with dismay that some individuals who are not from Essienimpong and claiming to be working for two different companies have commenced some nefarious activities like sand wining on the said parcels of land.

According to the petitions,the said individuals have destroyed the food crops and plantations made by signatories to the petitions are, Master John Atta Yeboah,Eric Nketiah , Eric Osei Kwadwo ,Akwasi Achampong, Prince Oppong Boakye, Samuel Akwasi ,Sekyere Isaac, Armstrong Yaw Manu, kwame Safo and Abena Adoma.

The indigenes of ESsienimpong some of whom depends solely on such farms for their daily bread. It explained further that when the land owners realized such activities on the said parcels of land they approached the workers who divulged to them that they had already consulted the current chief of Essienimpong before commencing the said sand winning activities.

The petition added that, the workers further divulged that, the release of that the land was spearheaded by one Michael who cooks for the Essienimpong chief but does not hail from the town while the Gyaasehene also affirmed that.

It’ said the owners of the said land have made all frantic efforts for the said sand winners to stop their activities but all efforts have been abortive because anytime any concerned person emerge to have them stop their activities, the Chief caused to be arrested the said person.

The crux of the matter ,the petition said ,is that the Essienimpong chief is at loggerhead to have communication with her for the past three years.

It is therefore the basis that the Chief had made all the effects to frustrate the Queen Mother by encroaching unto her parcels of the land cultivated by same family members. It pointed out.
