The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has reaffirmed its commitment to delivering stable, safe and quality electricity nationwide as it continues to expand and upgrade critical power infrastructure across the country.

The company’s ongoing investments cover essential components of the electricity distribution system, including Bulk Supply Points, high-voltage transmission lines, primary substations, power transformers, distribution transformers, low-voltage networks and customer metering systems. These interventions, ECG says, are aimed at strengthening the power distribution network to meet rising demand and support Ghana’s national development agenda.

Speaking during an off-studio radio interview on Akoma 87.9 FM in Kumasi, the Head of Public Relations for ECG Ashanti Sub-Transmission, Mr. Collins Manu, said the company remains focused on building a resilient power system capable of delivering consistent electricity services to homes, businesses and industries.

“Our commitment is simple: to provide safe, reliable and quality electricity to support national development and meet the growing energy needs of the country,” Mr. Manu stated. He added that this commitment aligns with the vision of ECG’s Managing Director, Ing. Kwame Kpekpena, whose leadership continues to prioritise infrastructure investment and improved service delivery.

Mr. Manu explained that ECG’s strategy goes beyond infrastructure expansion to include routine maintenance and system upgrades designed to enhance network stability and reduce power interruptions. According to him, these efforts are critical to sustaining economic activities and improving the overall customer experience.

Addressing the recent power outage that affected parts of the Ashanti Region, Mr. Manu clarified that the disturbance was the result of upstream technical challenges beyond ECG’s immediate distribution network.

“The outage in Ashanti was due to upstream technical challenges, and ECG liaised with relevant stakeholders to ensure swift restoration of power,” he said. “We sincerely regret the inconvenience caused and appreciate the patience and understanding of our customers.”

He assured customers that ECG continues to work closely with key stakeholders in the power sector to minimise the occurrence of system disturbances and to improve response time whenever faults occur.

Mr. Manu emphasised that ECG’s continued investment in power infrastructure remains central to ensuring reliable electricity supply, supporting socio-economic development and meeting the evolving energy needs of Ghanaians.
