ECG Ashanti Sub-Transmission Celebrates Collins Manu for Outstanding Media and Public Relations Excellence

Ashanti Sub-Transmission of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has honoured its Head of Public Relations, Mr. Collins Manu, in recognition of his exceptional contribution to promoting the activities and strengthening the public image of the company through strategic and impactful media engagement across the Ashanti Region.

The recognition was conferred during the Ashanti Sub-Transmission End-of-Year Staff Ceremony, held at the forecourt of the General Manager’s Residence, where management and staff gathered to celebrate dedicated employees and retirees whose professionalism and commitment significantly advanced the region’s operational mandate in 2025.

Mr. Manu, who recently attained the prestigious Accredited Public Relations (APR) status from the Institute of Public Relations (IPR), Ghana, was commended for his ability to translate complex technical operations into compelling, people-centred narratives that resonate with the public, the media and key stakeholders. His consistent and strategic storytelling has enhanced public understanding of power transmission operations while reinforcing confidence in ECG’s service delivery.

Through sustained media relations and deliberate communication strategies, Mr. Manu amplified the work of Ashanti Sub-Transmission and ECG in critical areas such as infrastructure development, system maintenance and reliability, fault management, technical collaborations and the deployment of real-time power data systems. His communications portfolio also highlighted innovative interventions including wildlife mitigation projects, capacity-building initiatives, energy accounting processes, corporate social responsibility programmes and practical industrial training opportunities for students.

By humanising engineering and operational activities, Mr. Manu’s work has bridged the gap between technical service delivery and public appreciation, deepening stakeholder trust and strengthening ECG’s reputation in the Ashanti Region.

Speaking at the ceremony, the General Manager of Ashanti Sub-Transmission, Ing. Peter Kofi Fletcher, praised the Communications Officer for deploying strategic communication as an essential management tool, noting that effective and transparent communication remains central to sustaining public trust and stakeholder confidence in the power sector.

The ceremony also recognised excellence in technical service delivery, with Mr. Richard Ntiamoah being adjudged Technical Staff of the Year 2025 in acknowledgment of his exceptional technical expertise, dedication and contribution to operational excellence within the region.

The End-of-Year Staff Ceremony underscored Ashanti Sub-Transmission’s commitment to recognising excellence, teamwork and professionalism, while reaffirming the role of effective communication and technical competence in advancing ECG’s mission of reliable and efficient power transmission.
