The Eastern Regional Minister, Hon. Seth Acheampong has paid a courtesy call on the Omanhene of New Juaben Traditional Area, Daasebre Professor Emeritus Oti Boateng at his house in Koforidua, the Regional Capital.
The purpose of his visit was to formerly introduce himself to the Omanhene and ask for his support during his tenure of office.
Accompanied the Regional Minister were the Chief Director of Regional Coordinating Council Mr. Samuel Donkor, Municipal Chief Executive for New Juaben South Hon. Isaac Apaw Gyasi, Municipal Chief Executive for New Juaben North, Hon. Comfort Asante, Municipal Chief Executive for Kwaebibirim, Hon. Seth Antwi Boasiako, New Patriotic Party (NPP) Regional Vice Chairman, Alhaji Omar Bodinga, NPP Regional Organiser Mr. Kwame Appiah Kodua and some technical staff from the ERCC.
Daasebre Oti Boateng welcomed the minister to his house and recounted the independence of Ghana. He said that it was a collective effort and not solely based on an individual as was being propagated in the country by some section of political populace.
He noted that Ghanaians should refrain from divisive politics and allow government to spearhead his root-based development model because it held the key to the emancipation of African from economic doldrums.
According to him, his root-based model was on the exchange of ideas, networking, inclusivity and diversity of thoughts which would propel the country to go forward as was in the case of China. “In ten years’ time, China will be a greatest economy whether America likes it or not,” He added.
The Omanhene also advocated for cleanliness in the New Juaben Traditional Area, code named, ‘Operation Clean Community’ to help in the development of the region. He advised the MCEs present to bring their ideas to bear and not only say what the minister wants to hear but also correct him for the good of the region.
Hon. Seth Acheampong on his part expressed appreciation to the Omanhene and was hopeful to fulfil the dream of the president.
He pledged to follow the root based model as espoused by Daasebre Oti Boateng since it was needed for the region and Ghana as a whole.
The minister informed Daasebre on his idea to work hard for the region to attain a metropolitan status and asked him to support him to achieve that vision.
