Eastern Region Hits by Shortage of Women

There is a shortage of women in the Eastern region of Ghana.

The region known for beautiful women currently has a women deficit of almost 1% comparative to the population of men.

According to the 2021 Population and Housing Census, the male Population in Eastern Region is 50.9% as against the 49.1% Female Population of the total population of 2,925,653.

More specifically, the Male population in the region is 1,436,951 as against the 1,488,702 female populations.

People who are between 0-14 years are 985,488 while those between 15-64 years are 1,773,355. The population of 65+ years is 166,810.

Meanwhile, the Eastern Regional Minister Seth Kwame Acheampong says the region projected 3.3million population hence the Regional Coordinating Council has requested the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) to have a second look at the figures for the region.
