Eagle Aura Obotantim Calls on Pastors to Stop Condemning Water Bodies

Prophetess Anita Emefa Addai, Founder and General Overseer of the Eagle Aura Obotantim Spiritual Center at Abuakwa in the Atwima Nwabiagya South Municipality of the Ashanti Region, has appealed to pastors and men of God across Ghana to stop condemning rivers, streams, and other water bodies, emphasizing that such actions have contributed to the growing disregard for the environment and spiritual forces that protect it.

Speaking during an exclusive interview with journalists at her spiritual center, Prophetess Addai said water bodies in Ghana are not only sources of life but also sacred entities inhabited by spiritual forces that have safeguarded communities for generations. She explained that modern religious teachings in some quarters have misled people into believing that water bodies have no spiritual significance, leading many to pollute rivers and streams without fear of consequences.

“In many communities, people fear to litter in church compounds, yet they have no hesitation in dumping waste into rivers and streams,” she said. “This double standard is dangerous, not only environmentally but spiritually. Our water bodies are sacred, and when they are disrespected, the spirits that guard them withdraw their protection, leaving communities vulnerable to calamities.”

Prophetess Addai observed that the continuous pollution and dishonor of water bodies have contributed to a rise in accidents, fires, and unexplained deaths in various parts of the country. She warned that if this trend continues, Ghana risks facing more severe disasters, as the spiritual entities that have historically protected rivers may turn away from communities that fail to respect them.

She called on pastors and religious leaders to educate their congregations on the importance of respecting water bodies, not as objects of worship, but as divinely created sources of life with spiritual custodians. “Respecting rivers and streams does not contradict faith in God; rather, it aligns with stewardship and care for the environment He created,” she explained.

Prophetess Addai also urged the government, led by President John Dramani Mahama, to work alongside traditional leaders, including His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, paramount chiefs, and queen mothers, to restore order in communities affected by illegal mining and pollution. She emphasized that traditional authorities have both the moral and cultural influence to ensure that communities honor their rivers and protect them from destruction.

She lamented that over the years, the lack of spiritual and cultural respect for water bodies has allowed illegal miners to invade rivers and farmlands with little resistance. According to her, the cooperation of religious leaders in promoting environmental consciousness can help reverse these trends and safeguard Ghana’s natural resources.

Prophetess Anita Emefa Addai concluded by urging all Ghanaians to recognize the spiritual and practical significance of rivers, streams, and lakes. She called for a collective effort from religious, traditional, and government authorities to educate the public, prevent pollution, and restore reverence for water bodies. She affirmed that such a partnership would not only protect the environment but also secure the nation from potential calamities caused by disrespecting the spiritual custodians of water.

Her call serves as a reminder that safeguarding the environment in Ghana requires both spiritual awareness and practical action, bridging traditional values with contemporary governance and religious teachings.
