E/R: Enstoolment Of “Bleaching Chief” Nullified

Social media users in Manya Krobo have been criticising a man bleaching his body yet seeking to be enstooled as a chief.

Minutes after photos of Ebenezer Teye were posted on Facebook as a newly enstooled chief, users started questioning why he bleached his body knowing very well that he is royal.

“I’m sure the bleaching alone may not be appealing to those who will have to confirm him”.

“Someone who bleached his skin, what leadership example is he going to exhibit?”

Meanwhile, the Manya Krobo traditional council led by His Royal Majesty Nene Sakite II, Konor of the Traditional Area, also president of the Eastern regional House of Chiefs on Tuesday, December 13, 2022, delivered a ruling nullifying his installation of the said Ebenezer Teye with stool name Nene Terkpernor Adipah V as Chief of Djebiam division which took place on November 11, 2022.

The Manya Krobo Traditional Council said the selection and processes leading to the installation of Nene Terkpernor Adipah V, were not customary and breached the rudiments of Krobo tradition.

Nene Sakite II, therefore, directed the Agbao Narh house, which has been declared to be the rightful house to install the successor of the late Nene Terkpernor Adipah IV, to go back and do further consultation with their king-makers to restart the entire process for the rightful candidate be enstooled to occupy the Djebiam Divisional Throne.

Nene Konor concluded by advising the Terkpernor Adipah house as well as other stakeholders in the chieftaincy issues in the area to desist from any form of litigation for peace to reign.

Sources however indicate that one of the reasons for his rejection is the fact that he has bleached his body.
