The Dunkwahene, Okoforubour Obeng Nuako III has installed a new “Nifahene” for the Dunkwa Traditional Area, in the Upper Denkyira East Municipality in the Central Region, to enhance the developmental growth as well as the fight against illegal mining, popularly known as galamsey in the local parlance, in the area.
The newly installed “Nifahene”, Nana Mensah Aninin, doubles as the new chief of Accra Town, a town in the Dunkwa Traditional Area.
The swearing-in ceremony coincided with the observation of the first “Akwasidae” of the second-quarter of the year, last Sunday.
Okoforubour Nuako advised the new Nifahene to be courageous and candid during his reign as well as protect and continue the “legacy” of his forebearers, urging Nana Aninin to involve his elders in decision making and also be respectful towards them as well as his subjects.
Further urged Nana Aninin to be circumspect in his dealing in his capacity as Dunkwa Nifahene, and also help in the developmental growth of the Dunkwa Traditional Area, as well as its elevation.
Nana Mensah Aninim thanked the Almighty and Dunkwahene for honouring by making him the Nifahene, urging his elders and subjects to rally behind him to facilitate the development of the Dunkwa enclave as well as elevating it to an “enviable status”.
Speaking to the , Nana Aninin advised the youth to abstain from drugs, such as opioids, popularly known as “red”,
And also urged the Ghana Police administration to often transfer personnel, in every four years, to prevent personnel from “fraternising” with members of the community inwhich they are stationed, to facilitate them to work “efficiently and effectively” without any fear or favour.

Gov’t, Chiefs Partnership, key to fight against illegal Mining and Drugs Abuse amongst Youth, Nana Mensah Annin, Dunkwa
Nana Mensah Annin, the Nifahene of Dunkwa-On-Offin has advocate for government and Chiefs collaboration in the fight against the Illegal Mining and Drugs Abuse in the country especially amongst the youth.
According to him, the government alone can not fight the canker with the involvement of Chiefs and other stakeholders in the society, and that if the fight is left in the hands of the government we can not go anywhere as a country in eleminating or even reduce the canker.
Speaking to the media after been sworn as the Nifahene of Dunkwa-On-Offin, he told the media that he is committed to bring discipline into the youth to sanitize the society from immorality and to help check the illegal activities and bring the perpetrators to book.
He also expressed the view that the reason government alone can not fight the illicit drugs and illegal Mining is that the drugs passes through our various ports which government has oversight responsibility to ensure that they are not enter into the country, yet those responsible to act looks unconcerned for the reason they only know and allowed them into the country.
Nana Annin is of the view that the most disturbing among the fight against the illegal Mining and Illicit drugs is our security system that he said turn into NPP and NDC and that the problems we are facing as a country is both the two political parties.
He reiterated that until those two parties stop politicizing the security sector and Collaborate with the chiefs we can not succeed in the fight against the drugs abuse and the illegal Mining especially in our Forest Reserves and Water bodies.
