Drunkards Association president warns members against drink poisoning during Christmas

The President of the Ghana Drunkards Association, Moses Onyah, has issued a strong caution to members of the association and the general public to be vigilant when drinking alcoholic beverages during the festive season to avoid cases of drink poisoning.

His warning comes as part of efforts to ensure a safe and incident-free Christmas celebration.

Speaking in an interview with Otec News on Thursday, December 25, 2025, during a special Christmas celebration, Mr. Onyah, popularly known as “Dry Bone,” urged drinkers to be extremely careful when gathering with others to drink.

He advised that individuals should never continue drinking from a cup or bottle that was left unattended, stressing that such carelessness could cost lives.

He explained that not all friends can be trusted, especially during social events where alcohol is freely flowing.

“Someone may pretend to be your friend but secretly wish you harm. The moment you leave your drink and return to continue, you may be taking in poison without knowing,” he warned.

Mr. Onyah also used the opportunity to caution motorists, particularly commercial drivers, against consuming alcohol while driving.

He noted that drunk driving continues to be a major contributor to road accidents during the festive period and called for responsible behavior on the roads.

He concluded by encouraging all celebrants to enjoy themselves moderately and responsibly, reminding them that the Christmas season is meant to celebrate the birth of Christ, not to endanger lives through reckless drinking.
