Drobonso Chief Demands Completion of Community Day SHS Dormitory and Road Projects
The Chief of Drobonso, Nana Dwamena Dankwah Dwubisaw, has appealed to the Government of Ghana to urgently address critical infrastructural challenges confronting the Sekyere Afram Plains District of the Ashanti Region, particularly poor road networks and unfinished educational facilities.

According to the traditional ruler, deplorable road conditions remain the most serious development challenge in the district, affecting more than 60 communities. He noted that the only tarred road linking Kumawu to Drobonso is grossly inadequate, leaving residents, traders and farmers to endure severe hardship, especially during the rainy season.

Nana Dwamena Dankwah Dwubisaw made the call during the Miss Drobonso Beauty Pageant 2025, where he used the platform to draw attention to what he described as longstanding infrastructural neglect. He specifically appealed for the immediate tarring of the Drobonso–Jeduako road and other key feeder roads to improve accessibility and boost economic activities in the area.

The chief explained that poor road infrastructure continues to hinder the transportation of agricultural produce to major markets, leading to post-harvest losses, increased transportation costs and a slowdown in local economic growth. He added that the situation has also affected access to healthcare and other essential social services across the district.

Touching on education, the Drobonso chief expressed concern over the uncompleted dormitory facility at the Drobonso Community Day Senior High School. He said the lack of boarding accommodation continues to limit access to secondary education for students from remote communities, many of whom struggle to commute long distances daily.

In addition, Nana Dwamena Dankwah Dwubisaw called on government to consider establishing a Nursing and Midwifery Training School in the Sekyere Afram Plains District. He noted that such an institution would not only improve healthcare delivery by training skilled professionals but also create employment and educational opportunities for the youth.

The chief urged government and relevant stakeholders to respond promptly to the district’s infrastructural and educational needs, stressing that balanced national development requires deliberate investment in rural and underserved communities such as the Sekyere Afram Plains.
