Dr. Mary Awusi Represents Ghana at Türkiye–Africa Business and Economic Forum, Strengthening Trade Ties

Dr. Mary Awusi, Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Free Zones Authority (GFZA), proudly represented Ghana at the prestigious Türkiye–Africa Business and Economic Forum (TABEF), held in Türkiye on 17th October 2025. The Forum, organized by the Foreign Economic Relations Board (DEİK) in collaboration with the Turkish Ministry of Trade and Economy, provided a high-level platform for fostering economic cooperation between Türkiye and African nations.
Themed “Leveraging Türkiye–Africa Relations for Mutual Gains,” the Forum attracted over 4,000 participants, including business leaders, investors, and policymakers from both continents. It served as a key avenue for discussing trade, investment, and industrial collaboration opportunities while highlighting strategic sectors for economic growth.

Dr. Awusi, alongside Ghana’s Deputy Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Hon. Sampson Ahi, and Ghana’s Ambassador to Türkiye, H.E. Abdul Nasiru-Deen, actively participated in Business-to-Business (B2B) engagements with Turkish investors and business executives. These interactions were aimed at strengthening bilateral trade relations, exploring investment prospects in Ghana’s Free Zones, and identifying avenues for joint industrial ventures.

Speaking on the sidelines of the Forum, Dr. Awusi emphasized Ghana’s commitment to positioning the country as a preferred destination for investment and industrial development. She highlighted the strategic role of the GFZA in facilitating business operations within Ghana’s Free Zones, providing investors with incentives, infrastructure, and a conducive regulatory environment.

“The Forum presents a valuable opportunity to showcase Ghana’s investment potential to global partners and to foster collaborations that can create jobs, stimulate industrial growth, and enhance trade between Türkiye and Africa,” Dr. Awusi remarked.

TABEF 2025 underscored the importance of deepening Türkiye–Africa relations through strategic partnerships, innovative financing, and technology-driven solutions. Participants engaged in sector-specific discussions covering manufacturing, agribusiness, energy, logistics, and digital trade, paving the way for meaningful collaborations.

The Ghana Free Zones Authority remains steadfast in its mission to attract foreign direct investment, promote industrialization, and expand Ghana’s economic footprint on the global stage. Dr. Awusi’s participation at the Forum is a testament to the country’s proactive approach in engaging international partners and strengthening economic diplomacy.
