Dr. Kwame Agyeman-Budu, the former Managing Director of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), has commissioned a newly constructed police station for the Asotwe community in the Ejisu Constituency of the Ashanti Region. The initiative, undertaken by Dr. Agyeman-Budu with the support of his wife, Mrs. Nana Abrefi Agyeman-Budu, and their family, represents a significant commitment to enhancing public safety and promoting community development in the area.
During the commissioning ceremony, Dr. Agyeman-Budu emphasized that the new police station is more than just a building; it serves as a beacon of hope and security for the people of Asotwe and surrounding communities. “This police station is a testament to our belief in supporting initiatives that drive positive change. It will provide a secure environment for our citizens and foster trust in law enforcement,” he stated.
Dr. Agyeman-Budu expressed appreciation for the collaborative efforts that made the project possible, highlighting the involvement of community leaders, stakeholders, and the government. He commended the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) government under President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for their ongoing efforts to strengthen law and order across the country. He noted that the police station is a product of teamwork and shared vision, exemplifying the spirit of collaboration needed for national progress.
Dr. Agyeman-Budu extended his profound gratitude to Nana Adwoa Sika Brayie, the Queen Mother of Asotwe, and the elders of Asotwe Nananom, acknowledging their crucial role and foresight in supporting the establishment of the police station. He also commended the contributions of several dignitaries, including Hon. Kwabena Owusu Aduomi, Hon. Kwabena Boateng, the Member of Parliament for Ejisu, and Hon. Samuel Oduro Frimpong, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE).
Additional gratitude was directed towards business leaders and local partners, including Mac Manu, Ben Acheampong (CEO of Noda Hotel), and Dr. Agyeman-Budu’s brother in the United States, Mr. Kwaku Nsiah Agyeman-Budu. Lydia Antwi, a former Assemblywoman of Asotwe, and Bernard Kwaku Bekoe, a former Assemblyman and native of Asotwe, were also acknowledged for their dedication to the project.
Dr. Agyeman-Budu further thanked the local police force, represented by former Divisional Police Commander Chief Superintendent Kweku Bempah, Chief Superintendent Adu Boahen, District Police Commander DSP Okai Kodjoe, and Crime Officer Mad. Hanna. He recognized their unwavering support and encouragement, as well as the efforts of the Friends of Agyeman-Budu Foundation for ensuring the project site remained clean and organized throughout construction.
He also expressed appreciation to Mr. Henry Duah-Boateng, the former NPP Ejisu Constituency Youth Organizer and current District Director of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), who also serves as Dr. Agyeman-Budu’s personal assistant. Additional thanks were given to the contractor, the artisans, and all who contributed to making the project a reality.
Dr. Agyeman-Budu emphasized that the police station represents a critical investment in the community’s future, providing both safety and a symbol of prosperity. He encouraged the police officers who will serve at the facility to uphold high standards of integrity, compassion, and dedication in their roles, as they play a vital part in maintaining peace and order. “Your role is crucial to ensuring justice and protection are within reach for our community. We trust you to uphold the highest standards and to serve with commitment,” he remarked.
In his address to the community, Dr. Agyeman-Budu called on the residents to work together with the police in promoting a culture of respect, understanding, and cooperation. He stressed that a strong relationship between the community and law enforcement is key to ensuring lasting peace and security.
