The forty-two (42) Graduands of the Kwadaso Chapter of the Ghana National Tailors and Dressmakers Association (GNTDA) were each presented with a Butterfly Sewing Machine by Dr. Kingsley Nyarko, New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Parliamentary Candidate for Kwadaso Constituency, during the Association’s 26th Graduation Ceremony held at the Kwadaso Women’s Training Center. The ceremony came off on Sunday 29th November, 2020 at 12:00pm. The presentation worth about fifteen thousand (15,000) Ghana cedis is the first of its kind for graduands in the constituency.
“Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) is of great essence due to its direct result in skills acquisition and development. It is also the key to the Constituency and the Nation’s industrialisation agenda as it provides the manpower for practical skills necessary for the industrial drive and growth of the private sector”, Dr. Kingsley Nyarko noted as he addressed the ceremony which attracted over six hundred (600) people. “If properly harnessed, It is an enormous source of wealth and job creation which has the tendency to create lots of employment, and lift a locality and her natives out of poverty,” he continued.
The NPP Parliamentary Candidate for Kwadaso Constituency, in furtherance, asserted that, prior to 2017, the TVET sector had not received the needed attention it deserved despite being an anchor for the industrialization agenda of the Country to position herself as the industrial hub in Africa. To prove his commitment toward the development of the TVET sector, the Parliamentary Candidate for Kwadaso Constituency asserted that, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo after his election began with the construction of modern TVET institutions across the Nation, an upgrade of some National and Vocational Training Institutes and also a major revision of the TVET curricula.
“Under the development of the TVET and Skills Training sector, Kwadaso Constituency has not been left, due to the love of President Nana Akufo-Addo for the Constituency, Kwadaso Constituency has actually benefited from an upgrade of the Methodist Technical Institute, construction of the Creative Arts Senior High School (SHS), institution of the Appiah-Menka University of Skills Training and Entrepreneurial Development, and others”, he posited.
He concluded by charging the highly ecstatic crowd to work tirelessly to secure more than 95% for President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in the upcoming General Elections slated for Monday 7th December, 2020.
