
In a decisive move to strengthen market governance and enhance economic activity, the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, has officially reconstituted the Management Board of Kumasi City Market Limited. The action is part of broader efforts to align the market’s operations with the government’s 24-Hour Economy agenda.

During the swearing-in ceremony held in Kumasi, Dr. Amoakohene charged the newly appointed Board to provide visionary leadership that will modernize and reposition the market as a commercial hub that reflects Kumasi’s status as the economic heartbeat of the Ashanti Region. He emphasized the critical role of the market in driving trade, employment, and business innovation.

Dr. Amoakohene urged the Board to collaborate closely with traders, stakeholders, and the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) to implement reforms that enhance infrastructure, ensure transparency in market operations, and create a business-friendly environment that stimulates growth and productivity. Responding on behalf of the Board, Chairman and Mayor of Kumasi, Richard Kwasi Ofori Boadi Agyemang, expressed gratitude for the trust and confidence reposed in the members. He assured that the Board is committed to implementing impactful policies that prioritize trader welfare, improve sanitation, enhance security, streamline revenue collection, and elevate overall operational efficiency within the market.
