Dr. Amagashi Urges Women to Embrace Regular Breast Cancer Screening for Early Detection

As Ghana joins the rest of the world to observe Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Apostle Dr. Samuel Amagashi, the Chief Executive Officer of Dr. Amagashi Herbal and Spiritual Center, has made a heartfelt appeal to women to make regular breast cancer screening an essential part of their health routine.

Speaking in an interview with the media, Apostle Dr. Amagashi expressed grave concern over the increasing number of women who only visit health facilities when their breast cancer conditions have reached critical stages. According to him, late diagnosis remains one of the major challenges undermining efforts to reduce breast cancer–related deaths in Ghana, and this can only be addressed through consistent education and proactive health behavior. “It is very sad to see that many women wait until their situation becomes unbearable before seeking medical attention,” he lamented. “Some believe it is a spiritual issue or an ordinary lump that will go away on its own, but by the time they finally visit the hospital, the cancer may have spread beyond control. Early detection through regular check-ups can save lives and prevent the painful cutting off of breasts.”

Apostle Dr. Amagashi noted that the battle against breast cancer should not be left solely in the hands of medical professionals, but should involve every member of society. He called on religious leaders, traditional authorities, and community health advocates to collaborate in spreading awareness about the importance of breast self-examination and periodic medical screening.

He further emphasized that breast cancer is not a curse or a punishment, as some people erroneously believe, but a medical condition that can affect anyone regardless of their social or spiritual standing. He urged women to overcome fear and misconceptions surrounding the disease and to seek immediate medical attention whenever they notice unusual signs such as breast lumps, nipple discharge, or changes in breast shape and texture.

Dr. Amagashi also called on men to play a supportive role by encouraging their wives, sisters, and mothers to undergo regular breast examinations. He stressed that family support, emotional encouragement, and community understanding can greatly influence early treatment and successful recovery.

The CEO of Dr. Amagashi Herbal and Spiritual Center revealed that his institution has been actively involved in public health education and spiritual counseling, with a strong focus on preventive health practices. He mentioned that the center continues to support community health campaigns, herbal research, and wellness initiatives aimed at complementing national health efforts. “As a nation, we must realize that health is our greatest asset,” he added. “Breast cancer is preventable and treatable when detected early. Let us all work together to create a society where no woman dies from ignorance or fear of stigma.”

As October — the Breast Cancer Awareness Month — continues to serve as a reminder of the fight against this life-threatening disease, Dr. Amagashi’s message stands as a call to action: regular screening, early detection, and collective responsibility remain the surest paths to saving lives and safeguarding the health of women across Ghana.
