The Chief of Donyina, Nana Osei Dankwa Brafor II, has made a significant contribution to educational development in the Ejusu Municipality by donating 180 dual desks to schools in Donyina, This generous donation, aimed at improving the learning environment, was handed over to the Municipal Education Directorate for distribution to schools in need.
The donation includes 50 dual desks for RC Primary, 50 for Presby Primary, 50 for M/A Primary, and 30 for Presby Junior High School (JHS). These desks, which will help address the ongoing shortage of furniture in local schools, were presented to the Municipal Education Directorate for further allocation to the schools.
Nana Dankwa explained that the donation was in response to a petition submitted by school heads, who identified a lack of adequate furniture as a major obstacle to effective learning. The Chief, during his inspections of the schools, saw firsthand the challenges faced by students and teachers and immediately decided to take action.
“Education is a cornerstone of our community’s progress, and we cannot afford to neglect it. My commitment to supporting education remains unwavering, and I will continue to ensure that our schools have the resources they need to thrive,” Nana Dankwa said during the handover ceremony. He emphasized that this donation is just one part of his broader efforts to support educational initiatives in the community.
The Municipal Education Director of Ejusu, Mr. Kwabena Owusu, expressed deep gratitude for the donation, noting that the shortage of dual desks in the municipality had been a long-standing issue. “These desks will make a big difference in our schools, especially in terms of improving classroom conditions for both teachers and students,” Mr. Owusu stated. He urged all stakeholders to work together in maintaining the furniture and ensuring that it remains in good condition for years to come.
Mr. Owusu also called for a change in attitudes towards public property, stressing the need for students and teachers to handle state assets with care. He encouraged the school community to treat the desks as valuable resources that contribute to the educational success of the next generation.
Mr. Raymond Ofori, headmaster of Presby Primary School, expressed his appreciation on behalf of his school. “On behalf of the entire school, I want to thank Nana Dankwa for this timely donation. These desks will greatly enhance our students’ learning experience,” Mr. Ofori said. He also called on other institutions, both public and private, to support the schools in the community to help meet their educational needs.
