Surely; it is always good to assure people to be happy; because, life in in itself is not measured by the number of breaths we take; but by the number of moments that take our breath away.
Again; when we say, ‘be happy’, you really need to be happy, because Life is not a matter of holding good cards, but of playing a poor hand well; and all is not over until the last breath seize.
As Ghanaians, we must still remember; and judge the current situations in Ghana, base on all the hopes given us by the New Patriotic Party (NPP), prior to election 2016. When we do that, we must also remember that, false hope is in no way better than a harsh truth. A harsh truth is painful to accept.
This article is base on nothing but the reality…How this sad situations in Ghana will actually help Vice President Dr. Bawumia, to break the 8 come 2024. This is a bitter truth; because sometimes, people who appears to be good, ends up being not as good as we might have hoped.
The current hardship hitting the Republic of Ghana, has at the moment gone way beyond expectation; and has compelled many citizens to conclude, that the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP); led by President Nana Addo and Dr. Bawumia has failed.
Due to the high cost of living (which is largely blamed on mismanagement by the Nana Addo government; the fall of the Cedis against it world trading currencies, and high cost of fuel); many Ghanaians have been pushed to believe; that the NPP’s chances of winning the upcoming election 2024; and breaking the much anticipated ‘8’, has been ‘shut down’.
When the Nana Addo-Bawumia government took office, the two main problems Ghanaians where expecting them to tackle in hurry, was the continues fall of the Ghana Cedi against the foreign currencies; and the rising cost of petroleum products. But as it stands now, it is clear, that the situations regarding these two (the cedi and fuel); have become worst than it was when this government took office in 2017.
In 2017, prior to the Nana Addo-Bawumia’s government taking office, the average price of a litre of petrol and diesel was GH¢4.5, with the gallon costing around GH¢20.20. The Ghana cedis to the United States dollar was also around GHc4.4.
Today in Ghana; as of October, 2022, the average price of diesel fuel in Ghana stood at GHc14.26 per liter; whiles the price of petrol fuel stood around GHc11.82 per liter; and all these are driven by the depreciation of the Ghanaian Cedi.
The Ghana cedis against the dollar; before the Nana Addo led NPP took over was around GHc4; today, as of October 10, 2022, the US dollar has broken the GH11 mark. and this has started a fresh new debates all together.
This sounds a very sad news for Ghanaians, because, the fall of the cedi against the dollar affects many things, including petroleum product; and also livelihoods in the country.
In some arguments, section of the Ghanaian population welcomes the shooting dollar against the cedi as a good news.
This according to the arguments, is because some institutions in the country charges for their goods and services in US dollars. Some Ghanaians who do foreign jobs here in Ghana (mostly online jobs), also receives the payments in US dollars, and so anytime the dollar rises against the cedi, it becomes advantages to these category of people.
The bitter truth is; in as much as the situations in the country suggests; that the ruling NPP is losing grip; and also elections 2024 in advance, the the reality is; currently in Ghana, online jobs that pays in US dollars are many, and more of the Ghanaian youth are into these jobs.
What this situation means is that, these online working youth are continuously praying for the this failed NPP government to be in power, so that the cedi will continue to fall against the dollar. This in reality will cause increments in their online salaries.
In my views, these points can be seen through the speed at which Dr. Bawumia is effecting digitization in Ghana (to help more youth go online for jobs, and be paid in dollars). They dont really care about the dollar rising; and the cedi falling.
And so when anybody think the cedi depreciation is a sad news, that will cause the NPP to lose the 2024 elections; i think that is also a failed mentality. The current situation in Ghana under ‘Nana Showboy’ and his ‘Economic Messiah’, is really a good news to a section of the population, who will always hope, that this failed government continues to break the 8; for the dollar to continuously rise against the cedi.
