The Chief Executive Officer of Divine Nana Owusu Group of Companies, Mr. Divine Nana Kwadwo Owusu, has called on the government to simplify business registration and documentation processes to encourage entrepreneurship and job creation in Ghana.
Speaking at the grand commissioning of Divino Hotel and Police Guard Apartments in Konongo, Mr. Owusu highlighted the numerous bureaucratic challenges business owners face in securing permits and approvals. He stressed that these difficulties discourage potential investors and limit employment opportunities for the youth.
“The kind of documentation frustration we go through sometimes prevents us from creating jobs for the people. It seems our leaders do not pay much attention to those of us who are eager to establish businesses and contribute to national development,” he lamented.
Call for Policy Reforms to Boost Business Growth
Mr. Owusu emphasized that if the government is serious about implementing initiatives like the 24-hour economy, it must first address the red tape surrounding business registration. He pointed out that many young entrepreneurs have the passion and drive to establish businesses but are often discouraged by the lengthy and cumbersome processes involved.
“The youth of this country have the zeal and passion to create businesses that will benefit Ghanaians, but the difficulties and frustrations involved in the process are too much. I appeal to the government to take urgent steps to address this issue,” he added.
He urged policymakers to introduce reforms that will make it easier for businesses to register, obtain necessary permits, and operate smoothly. He also called for digitalization of key processes to reduce delays and enhance efficiency in the business sector.
A Model for Youth Entrepreneurship
The commissioning ceremony was attended by several dignitaries, including Nana Osei Ankama II, Chief of Nyaboo, who commended Mr. Owusu for his entrepreneurial spirit and urged young people to follow in his footsteps.
“The youth of Ghana should learn from Divine Nana Kwadwo Owusu and emulate his efforts in business development. Instead of waiting for white-collar jobs, they should explore entrepreneurial opportunities that can help transform the nation,” Nana Osei Ankama II advised.
He encouraged government agencies and financial institutions to create more support systems for young entrepreneurs to ensure that Ghana’s business environment remains attractive for investment.
Economic Impact of Divino Hotel and Police Guard Apartments
The launch of Divino Hotel and Police Guard Apartments is expected to provide employment opportunities and boost economic activity in Asante Akim Central Municipality. The facility aims to promote tourism and hospitality while offering quality accommodation for business travelers and security personnel.
Mr. Owusu reiterated his commitment to investing in Ghana’s economy despite the challenges and called on other private-sector players to support national development.
As the government continues to push for economic growth, stakeholders believe that easing business documentation processes will encourage more investments, leading to increased job creation and economic stability.
