DEPUTY ROAD MINISTER EXPRESSES SATISFACTION OF PROGRESS OVER SOME TOWNSHIP ROADS IN ELLEMBELLE.

The deputy Minister of Roads and Highways, Mrs. Mavis Nkansah Boadu, on Thursday, 22, said she was satisfied with the progress of work being done by contractors on the number of town roads in Ellembelle district in the Western Region.

Her revelation came after completing a successful tour to the district to inspect the ongoing road projects.

She said, despite the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020 encountered during the start of the project it was going on smoothly and expressed the optimism that all roads awarded to contract in the area would be completed as scheduled.

The road projects which is awarded to five contractors last year includes; upgrading to Bitumen a 35km Edwakpole, Akpandue AB Bokazo town roads, Princess Town roads, Teleku Bokazo to Nkruful town roads and Awiabo Town roads all in Ellembelle district.

The deputy Minister of Roads and Highways who doubles as a member of parliament for Afigya Sekyere East has disclosed that 120 kilometres out of 269 kilometres of roads are to be completed at the end of September 2022.

Mrs. Nkansah Boadu told New Day FM journalist, Kaakyire Kwasi Afari that the work was in line with the vision of “the year of roads” agenda of the Government to develop and promote road infrastructure across the country.

The deputy Minister assured the people of Ellembelle of the government’s commitment to ensure that the ongoing road projects and those about to start were completed on schedule to promote commercial activities in the area.

The Ellembelle District Chief Executive, hon Kwasi Bonzoh again led the team to Ayinase to Menzezor road which caved in some weeks ago as a result of a downpour for the deputy road minister to obtain her first-hand information on the Ayinase to Menzezor road.

Mrs. Nkansah Boadu, the deputy road minister after accessing the havoc recommended a-40-meter concrete bridge and reconstruction of the caved potion over the Kpulake Kuma river on the Ayinase to Menzezor road in the Ellembelle District.

According to her, in the interim, a bailey bridge could be constructed by Memphis construction company Limited over the river within a possible timeline to aid human and vehicular movement.

The District Chief Executive of Ellembelle, Mr Kwesi Bonzoh, commended the ministry and the government for the swift action to provide a remedy to the situation before the permanent solution.

The DCE thanked the minister of Roads and Highways, hon Akwasi Amoako Atta and the President for the unprecedented road infrastructure projects in his district.

The Ellembelle District Assembly, he said, would provide the needed support and cooperate with the contractor to ensure that the temporary and permanent solutions were successful.
