Deputy Minister for Railways Development delivers a virtual speech on the progress of Ghana’s Railway sector.

 

On Wednesday, 14th July 2021, the Deputy Minister for Railways Development Hon. Kwaku Asante Boateng, represented the Minister for Railways Development, Hon. John Peter Amewu to deliver a speech on the theme “Forging new partnership to bridge Africa’s physical infrastructure”.

Speaking in a virtual conference, the Hon. Deputy Minister focused on steps, strategies, and partnerships to ensure that the infrastructure gap within the Ghana Railway Sector is bridged to enable it to contribute positively towards achieving the transformational change desired by the citizenry.

He outlined the major successes achieved so far in the rail sector and indicated that His Excellency Nana Akufo Addo’s government is committed to building a robust rail system capable of easing our transport system and expanding the economy through support for our industrialization drive.

Hon. Kwaku Asante Boateng admitted that there are still some major obstacles such as financial constraints that hinder our efforts to fully develop the rail sector to the desired height that needs to be achieved.

He, however, explained the government’s readiness to partner with international entities to achieve the broad agenda of developing the sector and make it more vibrant for the country’s economic growth is remarkable and phenomenal.

This conference exposed the Ministry to existing opportunities that can help Ghana towards achieving our objective to build the Rail sector to international standard.
