The 58th call to the Bar which was recently held at the International conference center in Accra had 278 lawyer called to the Bar ,it is expected that these fresh lawyer’s commence their pupillage and subsequent begin to practice as full fledged legal professional.
Among the newly enrolled lawyers is a 23 year old Akua Nyantakyiwaa Sarpong who defined all odds as a female and one of the youngest among the cohorts to set a very impressive record as the best student in interpretation of Deed and statutes her case typifies the demystification of the legal profession which many people including prospective applicants see as a no go area for young people and that it is a preserve for the grey haired and the experienced.
Having gone through her academic journey from Tanoso Adventist preparatory school through to kumasi Wesley Girl’s high school land finally Kwame Nkrumah University of science and technology to pursue the LLB in 2019 programme. Nyantakyiwaa was adjudged the best graduating female student at end of the LLB in 2019 .she sat for the entrance examination for the professional Law programme and went through successful to be counted among the 128 applicants who were admitted out of almost 2000 candidate who sat for the law school entrance exam through a dint of hard work Akua Nyantakyiwaa went through the programme succssfully without any hitch on the way .
Speaking to the Chronicle , 23 year old lawyer emphasised that, it is not true that the legal profession belongs to only the grey haired and the experienced and that with determination and being focused. One pursue it asked whether the General legal Council should lower the standard a little to increase the enrollment number Akua responded in the negative. She rather recommended for the expansion of the existing facilities so that more people would be enrolled
She further appealed to the government to support students pursuing law because the fee for the programme is very costly she finally encourage ladies to go to challenging programme because it will help affirm the fact that what man can do, Women can it and even better.
