DCE Hon. Prince Manu Hosts GoldBOD Executives in Push for District Development

In a significant move toward enhancing community development, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Amansie West, Hon. Prince M. Manu, hosted senior executives of the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBOD) at the District Assembly offices. The high-level engagement, which focused on strategic development partnerships, underscores GoldBOD’s commitment to improving the welfare of mining communities and supporting the district’s long-term growth agenda.

During the visit, GoldBOD presented three major development project options to the Assembly, each designed to address critical social infrastructure gaps in the district. The proposed projects include a modern hospital facility, a comprehensive water and sanitation initiative, and an advanced educational complex. These projects were carefully designed to target pressing community needs in healthcare, clean water and sanitation, and education—sectors vital to the sustainable development of the district.

The proposed hospital aims to provide residents with access to state-of-the-art medical services including emergency care, maternal and child health services, diagnostic facilities, and specialised treatment. The facility is expected to significantly reduce the need for residents to travel to distant hospitals, ensuring timely medical attention and improving overall health outcomes in the district.

The water and sanitation project focuses on addressing longstanding challenges related to limited access to potable water and inadequate sanitation infrastructure. GoldBOD’s plan includes the installation of mechanised boreholes, expansion of water distribution networks, construction of modern public sanitation facilities, and implementation of community hygiene programs. These measures are designed to reduce waterborne diseases and promote healthier living conditions across Amansie West.

The educational facility proposal seeks to uplift the district’s learning environment by providing a modern school complex equipped with ICT laboratories, spacious classrooms, staff offices, and enhanced learning resources. The project is expected to improve academic performance, encourage higher retention rates among teachers, and support the holistic development of students in the district.

Hon. Prince M. Manu expressed his sincere appreciation to GoldBOD for the proactive initiative, describing it as a testament to the organisation’s commitment to social responsibility. He noted that the Assembly would carefully review the three project options to select the one that best aligns with the district’s immediate priorities and long-term development goals. According to the DCE, the chosen project would have a transformative impact on the local population and serve as a model for community-focused interventions in other mining districts.

Community leaders and residents welcomed the initiative, praising GoldBOD for its commitment to investing directly in the welfare of mining communities. Many emphasized that such projects would address persistent infrastructural gaps, improve living standards, and contribute to the overall socio-economic development of Amansie West.

GoldBOD executives reaffirmed their dedication to responsible mining and sustainable development, highlighting that these interventions are part of a nationwide strategy to ensure that mineral-rich districts benefit meaningfully from Ghana’s mining activities. They emphasized that the projects are designed to create tangible, long-lasting improvements in health, education, and sanitation across the district.

The visit marks a key milestone in the collaboration between GoldBOD and the Amansie West District Assembly. With the Assembly poised to select the project that best meets community needs, residents eagerly anticipate the implementation of an initiative that promises substantial social and economic impact, paving the way for a brighter and more sustainable future for the district.
