Amansie South, Ashanti Region – The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Amansie South, Hon. Benjamin Marfo, has urged young beneficiaries of the National Apprenticeship Program (NAP) to fully embrace the opportunities provided and to avoid engaging in illegal mining activities, commonly referred to as “galamsey.” His remarks came during the official launch and distribution of tools to the first batch of youth under the program at the Amansie South District Assembly Hall.

The event was attended by Regional Apprenticeship Executives, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Constituency Chairman, Mr. Frank Antwi Adjei, traditional leaders, party officials, and community members, all gathered to witness a key milestone in youth empowerment and skills development in the district.

Under the National Apprenticeship Program, selected beneficiaries received trade-specific tools and equipment to enable them to begin or enhance their apprenticeship training. Each beneficiary will also receive a monthly allowance to support them throughout the program.

Addressing the youth, Hon. Benjamin Marfo emphasized the importance of discipline, commitment, and the proper utilization of the tools provided. He cautioned against abandoning the program to pursue galamsey, stressing that the skills and training offered through NAP would provide sustainable and dignified means of earning a livelihood.

“The tools you have received today represent an investment in your future. Use them wisely, stay committed to your training, and avoid activities that could jeopardize your development,” Hon. Marfo urged.

He further called on the master craftsmen and trainers responsible for guiding the apprentices to provide quality mentorship and practical instruction, highlighting that the success of the program depends on the dedication of both the trainees and their trainers.

Mr. Frank Antwi Adjei, NDC Constituency Chairman, praised the government and district leadership for prioritizing youth development. He stated that initiatives like NAP are critical for reducing unemployment, equipping young people with practical skills, and fostering economic growth in Amansie South.

Beneficiaries expressed heartfelt gratitude to President H.E. John Dramani Mahama and Hon. Benjamin Marfo for the support and opportunity provided under the program. They pledged to fully utilize the tools and training offered, demonstrating commitment to building successful careers and contributing positively to their communities.
