DCE Charles Appiah-Kubi Cuts Sod for Japan-Funded Health Centre at Apewu

The District Chief Executive (DCE) for the Bosome Freho District, Hon. Charles Appiah-Kubi, has cut the sod for the construction of a health centre at Apewu, a lakeside community in the district, marking a major step toward improving healthcare delivery in the area.

The health facility, which is being funded by the Embassy of Japan under the Programme for Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGHSP), is expected to significantly enhance access to quality healthcare for residents of Apewu and surrounding communities. When completed, the project will reduce the burden on residents who currently travel long distances to access basic medical services.

Speaking at the sod-cutting ceremony, Hon. Charles Appiah-Kubi reiterated the Assembly’s commitment to addressing critical development challenges confronting communities within the district, particularly in the health sector. He noted that since the assumption of office by the Mahama-led administration, the district has intensified engagements with communities to identify and respond to their most pressing needs.

The DCE expressed his appreciation to the District Engineer and the technical team for their dedication and professional efforts in ensuring the successful initiation of the project. He acknowledged that such collaborations are vital to the effective implementation of development projects across the district.

Hon. Appiah-Kubi further commended the chiefs, elders, and people of Apewu for willingly providing land for the construction of the health centre. He emphasized that the project would not only improve healthcare accessibility but also stimulate local economic activity through job creation and increased commercial engagement once the facility becomes operational.

Highlighting healthcare as a top priority for the Assembly, the DCE called on residents to continue supporting the Assembly in the discharge of its mandate. He stressed that sustained cooperation between the Assembly and community members is essential for the successful execution and maintenance of development projects.

Touching on broader challenges within the district’s health sector, Hon. Charles Appiah-Kubi acknowledged the shortage of healthcare professionals and inadequate health facilities in some parts of the district. He appealed to stakeholders, including government agencies and development partners, to support efforts aimed at bridging these gaps to improve healthcare delivery for residents.

The sod-cutting ceremony was attended by Assembly officials, community leaders, and residents, all of whom expressed optimism that the project would bring lasting benefits to Apewu and contribute meaningfully to the overall development of the Bosome Freho District.
