Dagomba Line Fire: Kumasi Mayor Donates Food and Household Items to Affected Residents

The Mayor of Kumasi, Hon. Richard Kwasi Ofori Boadi Agyemang, on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, visited Dagomba Line in the Kumasi Metropolis to sympathize with residents affected by a recent fire outbreak and to donate relief items to support victims of the unfortunate incident.

During the visit, the Mayor toured the affected area, interacted with victims, and expressed deep compassion to families who lost their properties to the fire. He assured the residents that the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly remained committed to standing with them during this difficult period and would continue to offer the necessary support to help ease their suffering.

As part of the intervention, Hon. Ofori Boadi Agyemang donated assorted food items and household essentials, including clothes, mattresses, rice, maize, mosquito nets, buckets, basins, bowls, cups, and plates. The donation was aimed at addressing the immediate needs of the victims and providing temporary relief as they work towards rebuilding their lives.

The Mayor used the occasion to urge residents to be more safety conscious, especially in densely populated communities where fire outbreaks can spread rapidly with devastating consequences. He directed the National Disaster Management Organisation to intensify public education on fire prevention and safety measures within the community to help avert future occurrences. He further emphasized that priority should be given to women, children, and other vulnerable persons in the distribution of the relief items.

The donated items were formally handed over to the Assembly Member for the area and community leaders to ensure transparency and fairness in the distribution process. Receiving the items on behalf of the community, the leaders expressed heartfelt appreciation to the Mayor and the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly for the timely support and pledged to distribute the items equitably to the affected residents.

The visit underscored the Assembly’s commitment to responsive governance and compassionate leadership, reinforcing its resolve to support residents in times of disaster and to promote safety across communities within the Kumasi Metropolis.
