Daddy Lumba’s First Wife Allegedly Returns to Germany to Prepare for Funeral Rites

The first wife of the late Ghanaian highlife legend, Daddy Lumba, reportedly returned to Germany after initially arriving in Ghana to mourn her late husband.

According to a report by Ghanaian blogger Bigscout Nana Prempeh, Madam Akosua Serwaa—who is widely recognized as Daddy Lumba’s first wife—has left Ghana for Germany to make arrangements ahead of the one-week funeral observance of the celebrated musician.

In a Facebook post, Bigscout stated that Madam Serwaa’s trip back to Germany is part of her efforts to mobilize family members, friends, and resources to ensure a dignified commemoration of the highlife icon’s life and legacy. She is expected to return to Ghana soon to fully participate in the traditional rites and preparations leading to the final funeral rites.

Daddy Lumba, born Charles Kwadwo Fosu, passed away on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at the Bank Hospital in Cantonments, Accra. He was rushed to the facility after reportedly falling seriously ill at his East Legon residence. The shocking news of his demise sent ripples throughout the nation, plunging both fans and fellow musicians into mourning.

The music maestro, known for his distinctive voice, timeless lyrics, and decades of influence in the Ghanaian music industry, had an illustrious career that spanned over three decades. He is credited with mentoring many top artists and shaping the landscape of modern highlife music in Ghana.
