Crime Rate at Nkurakan in the Yilo krobo Municipality is very high we need new police officers at Nkurakan police station.


Residents of Nkurakan said” to Rite fm Journalist Nenebi Ayertey” “every day and night robbers attacked us” but no arrests have yet been made in connection with the attacks.

The Nkurakan residents said there is fear in the community. “we’re not safe .”
Even when you are in your room,you’re afraid someone will come and attack you they said”.

The residents”and the opinion Leaders at Nkurakan in the Yilo krobo municipality is appealing to the Inspector General of police(IGP) , the Eastern Regional police Commander; and the Regional minister for Eastern Region to change some of the Nkurakan police officers.

“They said” the work of the police officers in Nkurakan is not encouraging.

They added that some Criminals take advantage of this and steal peoples in the community. They cited theft cases and other acts of violence perpetuated by unknown persons they believed the police officers in the community will have dealt with ease.They
told Rite fm Journalist Nenebi Ayertey that they can’t sleep every day and night” the crime rates is very high.

They said some of the police officers didn’t go to transfer for the past fifteen(15 to 17) years now; they want them to be transfered and bring new faces.The high crime rate in the community includes breaking of peoples stores, stealing of mottor bikes, stealing of mobile money vendors, and others.
The Assembly member for Nkurakan Hon. Thomas Aferdi Amponsah, said it is affecting the whole community because what is going on is very bad ” we want new faces “the police officers at Nkurakan can’t protected the people at Nkurakan.
