Confusion Rocks NPP in Offinso North as Party Faces Potential Loss of Parliamentary Seat

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Offinso North Constituency is embroiled in internal turmoil as party executives accuse the parliamentary candidate, Dr. Fred Gyei Asamoa, of selective treatment and neglect. This unrest threatens the party’s chances in the upcoming 2024 general elections.

At a press conference held recently, Faustina Akua Asantewaa, the Deputy Women Organizer for the constituency, voiced deep concerns about Dr. Asamoa’s leadership. She alleged that his actions have led to significant divisions within the party, undermining its unity and effectiveness.

“We have realized that our parliamentary candidate is not a unifier and has caused discord among party members in the Offinso North Constituency. His disregard for party executives has reached a point where we are no longer willing to campaign for him,” Madam Asantewaa stated.

She further lamented that the strength of the NPP in Offinso North is weakening, making the party less appealing to potential supporters and voters. “The strength of the party is shaking, and as a result, the party is no longer attractive. This situation is deeply concerning,” she added.

The discontent among party members has led some to call for urgent intervention from the national party executives. They have urged the national leadership to address the issues with Dr. Asamoa and restore unity within the constituency. “We cannot work with someone who is not a unifier. It is essential that the national executives step in and address this matter promptly,” a concerned party member stated.

The growing rift within the Offinso North NPP could have serious repercussions for the party’s performance in the forthcoming elections, potentially jeopardizing their chances of retaining the parliamentary seat in the constituency.
