The Conference of Principals of Technical Institutions (COPTI) has elected a new set of national executives following the successful conduct of its 2025 Executive Elections. The elections took place on Thursday, April 10, 2025, as part of a mini-conference held in Kumasi.
A total of 159 accredited delegates from technical institutions across the country participated in the voting process, which was conducted under the supervision of the Electoral Commission of Ghana. The elections were widely praised for being peaceful, transparent, and well-organized.
This year’s elections mark a pivotal moment for COPTI, as the new leadership is expected to play a key role in championing the growth and transformation of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in Ghana.
Arko Dometey Elected as COPTI President
In a tightly contested presidential race, Arko Dometey secured 84 votes, narrowly defeating Ishmael Arthur, who garnered 73 votes. Dometey’s victory is viewed by many as a call for continuity and innovation, as he is widely known for his dedication to improving standards in technical education.
Christiana Esi Nanavi Clinches Vice President Position
Christiana Esi Nanavi won the Vice President position with a decisive 104 votes, ahead of Gyamena Frederick Amoako and Emmanuel Narh Tetteh, who received 51 and 48 votes respectively. Nanavi is expected to bring strategic leadership and inclusiveness to her role, drawing on her rich experience as a principal.
Samuel Marfo Elected as Secretary
In a closely contested race for Secretary, Samuel Marfo emerged victorious with 58 votes, narrowly beating Emmanuel Narh Tetteh who polled 51 votes, and Isaac Bainin who secured 48 votes. Marfo is respected for his administrative capabilities and is expected to inject professionalism and structure into COPTI’s operations.
Diana Kwakye Ayettey Sweeps Assistant Secretary Role
Diana Kwakye Ayettey earned a landslide victory with 155 votes to secure the Assistant Secretary role. Her emphatic win reflects members’ overwhelming trust in her organizational skills and passion for service.
Dorcas Dede Nettey Takes Over as Treasurer
Dorcas Dede Nettey was elected as Treasurer after polling 104 votes, defeating Saaka Adams, who garnered 52 votes. Known for her competence and integrity, Nettey is expected to manage COPTI’s finances with transparency and diligence.
Harry Peter Adjimah Wins 1st Trustee Position
In the race for 1st Trustee, Harry Peter Adjimah secured 82 votes, edging past Effah Atakora Philip, who received 74 votes. Adjimah is expected to provide sound advisory support and ensure that the organization maintains ethical and governance best practices.
At the conclusion of voting, Electoral Commission officials certified the results as accurate and commended all participants for their commitment to a fair democratic process. Delegates were also praised for their conduct, which ensured a smooth and successful event.
The outgoing executives congratulated the newly elected team and assured them of their support during the transition. The new leadership will be officially sworn into office in the coming days.
As COPTI embarks on this new chapter, stakeholders have expressed optimism that the association will continue to advocate for the advancement of technical education in Ghana. The newly elected executives have also pledged to work tirelessly for the betterment of the association.
