Community Development Boost: GoldBOD Offers Three Major Projects to Amansie West

The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBOD) has taken a decisive step toward enhancing the socio-economic development of Amansie West District by presenting three major community-focused projects during a high-level engagement with the District Chief Executive (DCE), Hon. Prince M. Manu. The courtesy visit, held at the District Assembly offices, underscores GoldBOD’s commitment to ensuring that mining communities benefit directly from the country’s mineral resources.

During the meeting, GoldBOD executives outlined three strategic project options under the organisation’s corporate social responsibility initiative. These include the construction of a modern hospital, a comprehensive water and sanitation improvement programme, and a state-of-the-art educational facility. Each project has been designed to address pressing challenges in healthcare, clean water access, sanitation, and education, sectors critical to the district’s sustainable development.

The proposed hospital project aims to improve healthcare delivery in Amansie West by providing residents with access to specialised medical services closer to home. The facility is expected to include emergency care units, maternal and child health services, diagnostic laboratories, outpatient treatment, and specialised care units. This development would significantly reduce the need for residents to travel long distances for advanced medical attention, enhancing overall community health outcomes.

The water and sanitation project focuses on tackling chronic issues related to limited access to potable water and inadequate sanitation infrastructure. GoldBOD’s plan includes the installation of mechanised boreholes, expansion of water distribution networks, construction of modern sanitation facilities, and implementation of community hygiene programs. These initiatives are aimed at reducing waterborne diseases and promoting healthy living standards across multiple communities within the district.

The educational facility proposal is designed to transform the learning environment for students and teachers in the district. The modern complex would feature ICT laboratories, well-ventilated classrooms, staff offices, and specialised learning support spaces. This project aims to enhance educational outcomes, promote academic excellence, and provide teachers with an improved working environment, ultimately strengthening the district’s education sector.

Hon. Prince M. Manu expressed his sincere gratitude to GoldBOD for the initiative, describing it as a significant gesture of corporate social responsibility. He assured the executives that the District Assembly would conduct a comprehensive review of the three proposals to identify the project that aligns most closely with the district’s immediate and long-term development priorities. The DCE emphasised that the selected project would have a lasting impact on the lives of residents and contribute meaningfully to the district’s overall socio-economic growth.

Community leaders and residents welcomed GoldBOD’s intervention, commending the organisation for demonstrating genuine concern for the welfare of mining communities. Many acknowledged that the proposed projects could address longstanding developmental gaps, improve living standards, and stimulate local economic growth.

GoldBOD executives reiterated their commitment to responsible mining practices and sustainable community development. They stressed that these projects form part of a broader national strategy to ensure that mineral-rich districts benefit directly from Ghana’s mineral resources while promoting long-term social and economic progress.

The visit has set the stage for a pivotal decision-making process within the district, with the Assembly expected to select the project that best meets community needs. Once implemented, the chosen initiative is poised to deliver transformative improvements in healthcare, water and sanitation, or education, ultimately providing a lasting boost to the social and economic development of Amansie West District.
