Clement C. Blay foundation; Shaip Africa Commissions Water Closet toilet facility for Uthman Bin Affan Senior High School.

The Shaip Africa Foundation led by its founder, Mr Clement Clinton Blay who is also the Patron of National Association of Nzema students has averted what could have been a sanitation crisis in the Uthman Bin Affan Senior High school with the building of a modern 4-seater water closet toilet facility.

The founder of Shaip Africa Foundation mentioned that the outcry born from the students and the school authorities during his last month presentation of bags of cements over the insanitary and dehumanizing conditions at the school’s place of convenience for female students motivated his NGO, the construction of the toilet facility completed in record time.

Work on the toilet facility resumed last month June. The contractors constructed the toilet facility, which included plumbing, tiling, roofing, painting and surface dressing to fully make the toilet operational.

Mr Clement Clinton Blay, who handed the facility to the school on Friday, July 16, said his foundation is committed to mobilizing resources to improve the conditions at the school.

The facility according to Mr Clement Clinton Blay, is a kind gesture to promote a clean environment and sanitation in the school to help academic works and improve personal hygiene.

He, therefore, urged the students to use the facility in good use and keep it clean.

The Headmaster of Uthman Bin Affan Senior high school located at Kamgbunli in Ellembelle district of the Western Region, Alhaji Usmanu Zakaria who received the donation on behalf of the school, described it as a timely intervention and said it will help the girls in their good health.

The Headmaster told New Day FM journalist, Kaakyire Kwasi Afari, that the girls visit the only old 4 seater toilet facility in turns because of unavailability of spaces in the morning affecting smooth academic works and proper health conditions.

He was hopeful that the project will go a long way to improving the educational lives of the students.

The Headmaster thanked Shaip Africa Foundation, the National Association of Nzema students and all individuals who contributed to making the project a success and called on more philanthropist and stakeholders to contribute towards the school infrastructure.

The girls prefect of the school, Mariam Issah on her part thanked the NGO for the edifice but, she however, said, sadly the school had no staff common room, no library, inadequate drugs for patients, lack of dining hall, inadequate infrastructure, and an old bus making transportation to new environment very unpleasant.

She told journalist, Kaakyire Kwasi Afari in a sideline interview that, the school is also in dire need of a girls’ dormitory, a befitting science laboratory, a duty post, and more classroom blocks to accommodate the new intake of students.
