Christmas Festivities: Amenuveve Foundation Foundation Dines with Inmates of Ahinsan Camp Prison
The Amenuveve Foundation brought festive cheer to inmates of the Ahinsan Camp Prison in the Adansi North District of the Ashanti Region as part of their Christmas outreach program. The initiative, aimed at spreading joy and promoting humane treatment of prisoners during the festive season, saw the foundation visit and dine with the inmates, providing them with assorted food and essential provisions.

Speaking during the visit, the Ashanti Regional Prisons Chaplain, Rev. Stella Ama Katso Anku, urged parents not to neglect their children who are serving sentences in prison, emphasizing that they still have the right to proper care and support. She stressed that families should continue to engage with their incarcerated children and provide moral and emotional support, regardless of their convictions.

Rev. Anku also appealed to the general public to avoid stigmatizing ex-convicts and instead reintegrate them into society by offering guidance and assistance to help them rebuild their lives. “It is our collective responsibility to ensure that convicted and former inmates are treated with dignity and given the necessary support to live meaningful lives,” she noted.

Explaining the choice of Ahinsan Camp Prison for the Christmas celebration, Rev. Anku highlighted the need to bring attention to lesser-known correctional facilities and called on other institutions, organizations, and philanthropists to extend similar support to prisoners during festive periods.

The Officer-in-Charge of Ahinsan Camp Prison, Chief Superintendent Marthin Duah, expressed gratitude to the Amenuveve Foundation for their kindness. He further appealed to stakeholders to assist the prison in completing its health center and establishing a kitchen facility to improve service delivery and inmate welfare.

The Amenuveve Foundation’s initiative not only brought festive joy to inmates but also highlighted the importance of compassion, family support, and societal reintegration of convicts and ex-convicts, particularly during the Christmas season.
