In a significant development, Nana Amoako Tuffour has been destooled as Abadwumhene following allegations of disrespect and neglect. The decision, announced by Oguahyia Oduro Panin Birikorang I at the New Edubiase palace on August 13, 2014, was made after a comprehensive review by the Edubiaman traditional council.
According to the Queen Mother of Abadwum, Nana Akyaw Konadu Yiadom, Nana Tuffour exhibited gross disrespect towards his subchiefs and consistently failed to participate in important traditional festivals, such as Awukudae and Akwasidae. Opanin Kwaku Asare, a prominent figure in the Oyoko Royal family, corroborated these allegations, further detailing the chief’s misconduct.
Nana Akua Dwum II, the Queen Mother of New Edubiase, expressed surprise at Nana Tuffour’s conduct, indicating that it was incompatible with the responsibilities of a chief.
Oguahyia Oduro Birikorang I added that despite numerous invitations to address the charges, Nana Tuffour failed to appear, which contributed to the decision to remove him from office.
