A Midwifery Officer at Mansa Memorial Hospital in Ayewkrom, Ejisu Municipality, Mrs. Susan Agyewaa, has urged women to undergo regular screenings and medical check-ups to detect and prevent cervical cancer. According to her, early detection through screening is the most effective way to prevent the disease.
Speaking at a Free Cervical Cancer Screening Session organized by Mansa Memorial Hospital in collaboration with the Prince Asamany Foundation, Mrs. Agyewaa refuted claims that cervical cancer is a spiritually induced illness. She emphasized that cervical cancer is a medical condition affecting women and not one caused by supernatural forces.
“Cervical cancer is preventable if detected early. Women should not attribute it to spiritual causes but rather seek medical attention for early diagnosis and treatment,” she stated.
The Administrator of Mansa Memorial Hospital, Mr. Emmanuel Oti Agyekum, highlighted that the hospital’s focus is to raise awareness about cervical cancer and maternal health issues to reduce mortality rates.
The Executive Secretary of the Prince Asamany Foundation, Mrs. Lucy Asamany, also reiterated the foundation’s commitment to providing hope, development, and opportunities for underprivileged individuals. She stated that their goal is to break the cycle of poverty and social isolation while restoring hope for a better future.
The event provided free screening services to women in the community, encouraging them to prioritize their health and take proactive steps toward preventing cervical cancer.
