C/R: Hardened Thief Arrested At Winneba After Removing MP’s Streetlights

The Effutu Municipal Police Command has arrested a young man for allegedly removing streetlights being installed by the Member of Parliament for the area, Alexander Afenyo Markin.

According to a report by Bryt FM Central Regional correspondent Eric Owusu Amponsah, the suspect by the name Ato is a known addicted thief who is known in the locality.

Sources say the suspect was arrested after removing streetlights at Abasraba, Dayasaw, Kojo Beedu and Sankor, all suburbs of Winneba.

The reporter further emphasised that the action of the suspect seem to undermine the good intention of the MP in ensuring communities within the municipality have streetlights on to help deal with crime.

His arrest revealed the suspect has been stealing iron rods, food items, groceries and even stole paints bought to work on the building he (Ato) lives in.

The police are investigating the matter and are expected to be sent to the course in due time.
