BOSOME FREHO POLICE COMMAND DESTROYS CHANFANN MACHINES

The Bosome Freho district police command in the Ashanti Region led by ASP Mr Seidu Braimah has burned thirteen (13) “chanfann” machines belongs to some illegal miners operating in the night at Anuroso, Freboye Ohwimase, Achiase and Ofoase within Bosome Freho district.

According to ASP Mr Seidu Braimah, Bosome Freho district police station does not have enough vehicles to assist police petrol during the night hence, appealed to the stakeholders and the government to provide them with vehicles to support them.

However, Residents of Achiase,Anumso and Ofoase are peeved with the illegal mining activities in the area.

The residents are demanding an immediate end to the menace that is negatively affecting their livelihoods.

Speaking to media, the residents especially those into farming activities, complained about the destruction of their farmland by these illegal miners.

“Some people are taking the law into their own hands and decided to destroy our land, we rely on for living, and the forest reserve which will benefit the country in the near future.

Some cocoa farmers who spoke to Wontumi News reporter Aprobohene Davis Addai Amisty lamented on the destruction of water bodies used for irrigation purposes.

According to them, the most strange part of it is that, these illegal miners carry out their activities only at night when the farmers was asleep.

They noted that there has been a decline in their harvest as a result of the destruction of their farmlands which They think may cause famine in the near future.

The aggressive farmers pleaded with President Akufo-Addo to come to the aid to stop them.
