Bosome Freho DCE Appeals to Government for Urgent Road Rehabilitation Support

The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Bosome Freho, Hon, Charles Appiah Kubi, has passionately appealed to the central government to urgently support the district with a comprehensive road rehabilitation programme to address the worsening state of its road network.
In an exclusive media interview, Hon Appiah Kubi expressed deep concern over the deplorable condition of roads throughout the Bosome Freho District, emphasizing that the situation is beyond the capacity of the local assembly to manage alone. He disclosed that while the district has access to a DRIP (District Roads Improvement Project) machine, the equipment is only suitable for basic maintenance works and not for the major road construction needed to restore the roads to an acceptable state.
“We are trying our best as a District Assembly, and we have a DRIP machine to help with minor road maintenance. But frankly, the level of deterioration on our roads is beyond what we can fix locally. We need the central government’s urgent assistance to reconstruct and improve the road network across the district,” Hon Appiah Kubi stated.
He lamented that many of the roads, especially those linking remote communities to the district capital, have become nearly impassable, particularly during the rainy season. This, he said, has brought untold hardship to residents, especially farmers and traders whose livelihoods depend heavily on road access.
According to him, poor road conditions are seriously undermining economic activity in Bosome Freho, disrupting the transportation of farm produce and goods to markets, as well as limiting the movement of people between communities. He also warned that the lack of proper roads was impeding access to essential services such as healthcare, education, and emergency response.
“Our farmers cannot easily transport their produce to market centers, leading to post-harvest losses and lower incomes. Students struggle to get to school safely, and health personnel find it difficult to reach some communities in time during emergencies,” the DCE explained.
Hon. Appiah Kubi called on the Ministry of Roads and Highways to prioritize the rehabilitation of key routes in the district, particularly the feeder roads that connect major farming and rural communities to the Asiwa township and other major markets.
He expressed confidence that with government support, the Bosome Freho District could experience a significant transformation that would spur local development, reduce poverty, and improve the living conditions of its residents.
The DCE reaffirmed the Assembly’s readiness to collaborate with the relevant agencies and contractors once the government intervenes, assuring that the local leadership will ensure that all resources are used effectively to achieve long-lasting results.
