In a groundbreaking move to enhance sports infrastructure and youth development, Hon. Yaw Frimpong Addo, Member of Parliament for Manso Adubia constituency, has cut the sod for the construction of a modern AstroTurf pitch in Manso Datano. The project, undertaken in collaboration with the Ghana National Gas Company (Ghana Gas), is aimed at promoting sports in the community and providing a safe, world-class facility for football and other sporting activities.
The new AstroTurf pitch is expected to not only boost sporting activities but also serve as a hub for nurturing local talent, fostering a healthy lifestyle, and engaging the youth in positive activities. Hon. Yaw Frimpong Addo, speaking at the event, emphasized his unwavering commitment to supporting sports development and empowering the youth in his constituency.
“This AstroTurf pitch is part of our long-term vision to provide the necessary infrastructure for sports development in Manso Adubia. By investing in sports, we are also investing in the future of our youth, their health, and their ability to compete at the highest levels,” he said.
The event was graced by several prominent figures, including the District Chief Executive (DCE) of the Amansie South District Assembly, Hon. Also present were constituency executives, such as the constituency chairman, Mr. Kofi Acheampong, and constituency organizer, Mr. Atta Asenso Peter, along with other New Patriotic Party (NPP) supporters.

They acknowledged that the AstroTurf pitch would greatly benefit the community and urged the MP to continue his good work.
The Nananom further appealed to Hon. Yaw Frimpong Addo and Ghana Gas to extend their support beyond sports by addressing the educational needs of the community. Specifically, they requested the construction of a senior high school in Manso Datano, highlighting the importance of accessible education for the youth.
“We are thankful for this project, but we also appeal to you and Ghana Gas to consider providing a senior high school for our community. Education is key to our future, and having a senior high school here would make a tremendous difference,” said one of the chiefs at the event.
Hon. Yaw Frimpong Addo acknowledged the Nananom’s request and assured them of his continued dedication to the development of Manso Adubia. He pledged to engage with relevant authorities and stakeholders to explore the possibility of establishing a senior high school in the community.
The AstroTurf project, expected to be completed in the coming months, is set to provide a modern sports facility that meets international standards. The facility will not only boost sports development but also serve as a recreational space for the community, fostering unity and teamwork among the youth.
