As Nananom and the good People of Techiman South the Bono East Regional capital were anxiously waiting for the next Metropolitan Chief Executive from the ruling National Democratic Congress who will partner with their Member of Parliament Hon. Martin Kwaku Adjei-Mensah Korsah who retained his seat in the 2024 elections even though his Party the NPP lost in the Presidential; nature coincidentally brought another Adjei Mensah to the fore to drive the development agenda of the Constituency to greater heights.
Hon. Kwaku Adjei Mensah, a former one-term Member of Parliament for Techiman South Constituency (2013-2017) was on Friday 4th April, 2025 nominated by President John Dramani Mahama to become Techiman’s next Mayor who historically received a 100% endorsement from Members of the Assembly.
At his confirmation on Monday 7th April, 2025 at the Bononkyempem Hall in Techiman at a very charged atmosphere amid tight security, for the first time in Techiman’s history; all 46 assembly members comprising 32 elected members and 14 government appointees voted ‘YES’ for Hon. Adjei Mensah who is also a former Presiding Member of the same assembly.

Meanwhile, before the Mayor’s confirmation; the Assembly had earlier elected Hon. Issah Adams the Assembly Member for Kenten electoral area as the new Presiding Member for the Techiman Metropolitan Assembly who went unopposed and garnered 33 YES votes against 12 NO votes with 1 rejected ballot.

Present at yesterday’s special meeting of the Techiman Metropolitan Assembly were Nananom, Clergy, MMDCEs, NDC Executives led by Mr. Unas Owusu (Unasco) the Regional NDC Chairman and people from all walks of life.
Hon. Francis Owusu-Antwi the Bono East Regional Minister in his address expressed confidence in Hon. Adjei Mensah of superintending over a successful administration as a Mayor.
