BIBIANI SHTS MANAGEMENT PROCURE 200 MONO DESKS AHEAD OF THE REOPENING; APPEALS FOR MORE

In preparation for the reopening on January 3, 2025, the Management of Bibiani Senior High Technical School has successfully acquired 200 mono desks to add to the current inventory of furniture to facilitate teaching and learning.

The project is estimated at the cost of Forty Thousand Cedis (Ghc40,000.00). This was raised from the School’s internally generated funds.

This is a backup plan to handle the massive influx of fresh boys and girls in the different classrooms. The move is also expected to enhance teaching and learning by ensuring the well-being and safety of students.

In a related development, the Headmaster of the School, Mr. George Baidooh, made a passionate appeal to the government, especially GETFund, NGOs, Philanthropists, and Old Students, to assist the institution with furniture to enhance teaching and learning. He stressed that a conducive classroom environment is a necessary condition for academic excellence. “For years the school, known for its discipline and academic excellence, has been battling with inadequate furniture to enhance the teaching and learning of its students.” The Headmaster emphasized.

“In light of the implementation of the Free SHS, students from all regions of the country are placed in the school, leaving the management with no choice but to admit them. This has overwhelmed the existing infrastructure and furniture resulting in severe congestion”. The headmaster indicated.

Mr. Baidooh added that the acquisition of the 200 desks is woefully inadequate since the school needs about 500 desks to make up for the deficit in furniture. He noted that the shortage of furniture worsens the challenges faced in facilitating effective teaching and learning processes. He, therefore, called on the authorities to come to the aid of the school to support them in addressing the challenges confronting the school.

With an approximately 2,500 student population, and 950 first-year students, urgent intervention is needed in students, and teachers’ accommodations on campus to instill discipline. It came to light that frantic efforts are being made to accommodate more teachers on campus since more than half of the teaching staff are living outside the school compound.

The Management called on all well-wishers to come quickly to the aid of the school to enable it to effectively serve residents in the Municipality and the entire Western North at large.
