Benito Mining and Engineering Company Limited CEO Urges Government, Philanthropists to Fund Youth Skills Training
The Chief Executive Officer of Benito Mining and Engineering Company Limited, Mr. Benjamin Oppong, popularly known as Benito, has appealed to the government and philanthropists to provide financial support to young people to enable them to acquire vocational and technical skills.

According to Mr. Oppong, the widely held perception that Ghanaian youth are unwilling to learn skills is misleading and unfair. He explained that many young people are eager to undergo skills training but are often constrained by financial challenges, which prevent them from enrolling in and completing such programmes.

He noted that the challenges facing aspiring trainees extend beyond tuition fees. In many cases, basic necessities such as food, accommodation, and transportation become serious obstacles, forcing some youth to abandon their training despite their strong desire to learn a trade.
Mr. Oppong stressed that investing in youth skills training is one of the most effective ways to tackle unemployment and reduce social vices in the country. He therefore urged the government, corporate institutions, and well-meaning individuals to prioritize funding for skills development as a sustainable and long-term solution to youth unemployment.

Highlighting the importance of community development, Mr. Oppong also pointed out that Benito Mining and Engineering Company Limited has implemented several social responsibility initiatives in Numereso and its surrounding communities. These include reshaping deplorable roads, supporting the needy and vulnerable, and other programmes aimed at improving the welfare of residents.
He encouraged young people to embrace vocational and technical skills training, describing it as a reliable pathway to self-employment, economic empowerment, and national development. Mr. Oppong called on the government and philanthropists to complement private sector efforts, emphasizing that collective action is necessary to empower the youth and build a skilled workforce for the future.
