Bekwai Municipal YEA Partners with Institutions to Provide Job Skills for Youth

The Bekwai Municipal Youth Employment Agency (YEA) has announced a strategic partnership with various institutions to equip young people with employable skills, a move aimed at tackling the growing youth unemployment crisis in the municipality.

Speaking to journalists, the newly appointed Bekwai Municipal YEA Director, Mr. Abdul Rauf Abubakar, reiterated his commitment to supporting President John Dramani Mahama’s agenda of youth empowerment through job creation. He described the initiative as a crucial intervention that will provide young individuals with the necessary skills to secure meaningful employment or venture into entrepreneurship.

“As a country with a youthful population, Ghana needs to prioritize skills development. This partnership is designed to ensure that our youth are well-trained, competent, and ready for the job market,” Mr. Abubakar stated.

The initiative will focus on technical and vocational education, targeting fields such as construction, agriculture, information technology, and artisanal trades. According to Mr. Abubakar, the YEA will collaborate with educational institutions, private companies, and government agencies to deliver industry-relevant training programs.

He urged young people in the municipality to take advantage of the opportunity, emphasizing that skills acquisition is a key step towards financial independence and career growth. He also called on stakeholders, including traditional authorities, business leaders, and civil society organizations, to support the program to ensure its long-term success.

Mr. Abubakar, who also serves as the Bekwai Constituency Youth Organizer for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), expressed optimism that the initiative will have a lasting impact on the economic well-being of the municipality. He reaffirmed his dedication to working with all relevant partners to create more opportunities for young people in Bekwai.

In the coming months, the Bekwai Municipal YEA is expected to roll out specialized training programs, providing participants with hands-on experience and industry certifications to enhance their employability. The initiative forms part of a broader strategy to drive youth-centered development and economic transformation in the municipality.
