The Member of Parliament for Bekwai, Lawyer Ralph Opoku Adusei, joined the Bekwai Municipal Muslim community today at Gyamfi’s Park to celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr, emphasizing the need for religious harmony, national unity, and community development.
Speaking at the event, Hon. Opoku Adusei commended the peaceful coexistence between Christians and Muslims in Ghana, describing it as a key pillar for economic growth and social progress. He urged Muslims to continue supporting the government’s development agenda to help build a stronger nation.
“The harmony between Christians and Muslims in Ghana is remarkable and serves as a model for other nations. It creates an environment where development can thrive. Let’s continue working together to support the government in fostering peace and prosperity,” he stated.
Chief Imam Stresses Lessons from Ramadan
The Bekwai Municipal Chief Imam, Mr. Mohammed Adams Cedako, spoke on the spiritual significance of Ramadan, describing it as a sacred period for reflection, self-discipline, and moral transformation.
He emphasized the importance of patience, repentance, love, and humility, urging Muslims to uphold these values even after Ramadan.
“Ramadan teaches us valuable lessons—discipline, selflessness, and faith. These principles should not end with the fasting period but must guide our everyday lives,” he said.
Bekwai Zongo Chief Calls for Forgiveness and Community Development
The Chief of Bekwai Zongo (Sariki Zongo), Shau Tijani Ali, also addressed the gathering, calling on the Muslim community to embrace unity, forgiveness, and collective development efforts.
“We must learn to forgive one another and work together for the betterment of our communities. Development starts with unity, and as Muslims, we must set the example by fostering peace and cooperation,” he stated.
The Eid-ul-Fitr celebration at Gyamfi’s Park brought together Islamic scholars, political leaders, traditional authorities, and community members, all reaffirming their commitment to peace, development, and social cohesion in Bekwai and beyond.
