The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Bekwai, Hon. Salifu Issaka, together with the Municipal Director of Education, Madam Leticia Obeng, has undertaken a working visit to various examination centers in the Bekwai Municipality to encourage candidates sitting for the ongoing West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).

The visit formed part of a broader initiative by the Bekwai Municipal Assembly and the Education Directorate to monitor the smooth conduct of the WASSCE, provide moral support to candidates, and ensure a credible and disciplined examination process across all centers within the municipality.

The WASSCE centers visited in the municipality included Bekwai Wesley Senior High School, SDA Senior High School, Ofoase Kokobeng SHS, and Denyaseman SHS.”

Addressing the candidates, the Municipal Director of Education, Madam Leticia Obeng, urged students to uphold academic integrity and avoid any temptation to engage in examination malpractice. She reminded them that dishonesty during the exams could have far-reaching consequences on their academic journey and future prospects.

“Examination malpractice destroys credibility and can jeopardize your entire future. I encourage you to rely on what you have studied and give of your best. With the right mindset and effort, you will excel,” Madam Obeng advised. She emphasized that discipline, hard work, and determination remain the surest path to success.

Hon. Salifu Issaka, for his part, commended the students for their comportment and discipline during the exams. He expressed satisfaction with the level of preparedness demonstrated by the candidates and encouraged them to remain focused until the end of the examination period.

However, the MCE also cautioned candidates against the negative practice of destroying school property after completing their final papers, a trend that has been observed in some schools over the years. He warned that such acts of vandalism not only damage the reputation of schools but also place an unnecessary financial burden on government and school authorities who are forced to repair or replace damaged facilities.

“Education remains our priority, and while we support you to excel, we also expect discipline and responsibility. Any candidate who tries to destroy school property will be arrested and dealt with according to the law,” Hon. Issaka stressed.

He further assured students and school authorities that adequate security measures would be put in place as the final papers approach to protect educational infrastructure and maintain order across the municipality.

The joint visit by the MCE and the Education Director was well received by candidates, who expressed gratitude for the encouragement and pledged to conduct themselves responsibly  throughout the examination period.
