Behenase Gyaasehene Urges Youth to Shun Social Vices and Embrace Hard Work for a Brighter Future

The Gyaasehene of Behenase (formerly known as Boni), under the Denyase Traditional Area in the Amansie enclave, Nana Ewi Asamoah II, has passionately appealed to the youth to stay away from social vices and rather devote their energy to hard work, skill acquisition, and productive ventures that will secure their future and uplift their communities.
He made this passionate call during the grand celebration of Akwasidae and his official outdooring to the people of Denyaseman following his swearing-in as the Gyaasehene of Behenase. The ceremony brought together chiefs, elders, opinion leaders, youth groups, and residents who came in their numbers to witness the occasion and pledge their support for his leadership.
Addressing the gathering, Nana Ewi Asamoah II expressed grave concern about the increasing indulgence of some youth in negative behaviours such as drug abuse, excessive alcoholism, teenage pregnancy, and disrespect towards authority — acts he described as destructive and detrimental to their personal development and the collective progress of Behenase and its surrounding communities.

He cautioned that such irresponsible lifestyles often lead to disastrous outcomes, including imprisonment, untimely death, and the loss of life-changing opportunities. According to him, the youth must understand that success in life is built on a foundation of discipline, hard work, and respect for elders and constituted authority.
“The youth are tomorrow’s leaders. If they respect themselves and others, they will go far in life. Discipline and hard work will always open doors of opportunity,” Nana Ewi Asamoah II emphasized.
The Gyaasehene also underscored the importance of unity among the people of Behenase, noting that development cannot be achieved in an environment of disunity and division. He therefore urged residents to rally behind his leadership and work together for the common good of the community.
He assured the people of his unwavering commitment to promoting development across all sectors, including healthcare, education, and security, adding that his reign will focus on improving the general well-being of the people of Behenase and neighbouring areas.

In outlining his vision, Nana Ewi Asamoah II identified youth empowerment as a central pillar of his leadership agenda. He observed that Ghana’s unemployment challenge continues to threaten the prospects of many young people and stressed that empowering the youth with employable skills and creating job opportunities remain essential pathways to solving this national crisis.
“Youth empowerment is key to tackling the national canker of unemployment. We must help our young people acquire skills and jobs so they can build promising futures and contribute meaningfully to national development,” he said.
The Gyaasehene further pledged to collaborate with government agencies, non-governmental organizations, and development partners to implement sustainable projects that will enhance livelihoods, promote entrepreneurship, and drive community transformation.
He concluded by expressing gratitude to the chiefs and people of Behenase for their overwhelming support and assured them of an inclusive and transparent leadership that prioritizes development, peace, and prosperity for all.
The colourful event was marked with traditional drumming, dancing, and rich cultural displays, reflecting the pride and unity of the people of Behenase and the broader Denyase Traditional Area.
